Something for the KIDS

Hey moms & dads! Beginning Sunday, March 11th, we have something just for the kids available in the sanctuary during both worship services. It is a ‘Kids Busy Bag’! Located near the ushers as you enter the sanctuary on Sunday mornings will be a special basket that will have hold these bags. The bags will have crayons, Children’s Worship Bulletins & a book for your young one to use while in the sanctuary. We just ask that the bags be returned to the basket before your child leaves the sanctuary. Each Sunday the bags will be available for more church fun!

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:

THE HOPEFOOLS NEED YOU!

Lakeside’s puppet ministry, the HOPEFOOLS (Hands On People Experience For Our Only Lord and Savior—say that 3 times fast!) is looking for high school students interested in sharing God’s Word with others through puppetry, music and skits.  The HOPEFOOLS share the Word here at Lakeside as well as out in our community.  We practice Wednesday evenings at 7:00.  If you would like to be a part of this exciting ministry, contact our leader, Karen Surratt at 301-843-1250.

Greetings fellow Lakesiders!

This is Marc Meador, the church communications coordinator and I wanted to pass information on about Lakeside’s email list server.  Why a list server – well, let’s start with the point that it is a free service provided by the United Methodist Church.  The email server allows you to send and receive email announcements to/from your church family.  We intend to start using this tool more and more to communicate the happenings at Lakeside.

How do you sign up?  Its easy!  Please click on the icon below and fill out the site registration form (it takes less than three minutes).  On the second page, make sure you tell them you attend Lakeside.  Its just that easy.

Once you sign up, you’ll get the latest happenings at our church.  If you want to send an email to other Lakesiders that have joined, you simply craft your email and send it to this email address – Lakeside-UMC@UMCGroupEmail.org and the system will shoot it out to everyone that has signed up.

Food Pantry

An ongoing mission is our continuing collection for the local food pantries. The grocery cart in the lobby is always there just waiting to be filled. Next time you are at the grocery, add an extra can of soup and/or vegetable to your basket. On Sunday morning, bring it in and place it in the shopping cart. With each can, we are helping the people of Charles county that are in need. So come on Lakeside, let’s fill that cart up!!

CREW

"Children Reaching the Entire World"

CREW, Lakeside’s mission-based program for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, will resume on October 1st. CREW meets on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30. Meetings consist of sharing our joys and concerns, learning how we can be more like Jesus, reading and discussing scripture, snacks, games and more. This fall, we will learn more about stewardship through the children’s version of “The Secret to Handling Money God’s Way”. If your child is entering 3rd, 4th or 5th grade and would like to be a member of the CREW please contact the church office.

LAKESIDE FISHERMEN

Seeking Men of Faith to join in fellowship

Please consider taking time to visit with us one Saturday morning. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings between 8am and 9am. Typically, we have a short lesson, discuss current events and some of the latest “happenings” in the life of our Church. You may have also seen us assisting with cooking chores during the Easter Sunrise services, the Fat Tuesday Pancake dinner, or during Camp LOVE. Besides cooking, we’ve been known to occasionally pull together a golf tournament, clean up a church member or neighbor’s yard, or do some light home repairs when the need arises. Our goal is to Live, Learn and Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Meeting locations alternate between the Church and the Old Country Buffet (2nd and 4th Saturdays respectively).
